What Some Our Patients Are Saying

"I have had the great fortune to be a patient of both Jisun Ryu and Ali Perez. I am recovering from a severe case of chronic fatigue syndrome and have come to a place where they are my two most important providers. They are excellent care providers as well as lovely people. I give them the highest recommendation!" - M.G.

"I've been seeing Jisun Ryu for acupuncture for more than two years. She is one of the most skilled and compassionate practitioners that has ever cared for me. Jisun has given me relief from crippling migraines, helped me to cope with episodes of stress and insomnia and even treated my sprained ankle effectively. I highly recommend seeing Jisun for any physical or emotional challenge you may experience." - G.D.

"Jisun Ryu is an incredibly compassionate and skilled practitioner. After enduring chronic digestive issues for several years, I decided to see Jisun in hopes of having acupuncture provide some relief. Not only did my digestive problems subside, but my overall health greatly improved. Jisun is amazing and I cannot thank her enough for just how much she has helped me. I highly recommend Jisun!" - A.M.

"My husband and I have been going to Ali Perez (Chiropractor) for a few years now. I also have been seeing Jisun Ryu, MS, L.Ac, Dipl. OM for acupuncture. They were both with a former practice that I went to for years. We trust them both with our care. So much so that we still drive from Frederick for treatment. I highly recommend them as they listen to your needs and put your health first. They both take their time and make sure you’re feeling your best before you leave." - T.H.

"I started seeing Jisun Ryu over a year ago when I was having difficulty getting pregnant. She is kind, caring, and professional. Acupuncture has definitely helped with my overall health, and I continue to see her now that I am pregnant. I cannot recommend her highly enough." - L.H.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: How many patients have you had success with?
A: Our practice has very high patient return rate compared to the average. Our patients return to us because they trust in our expertise and trust us with their healthcare. Out of the patients that continue the course of treatments as prescribed, almost all notice improvement of their condition whether it is minor or major.

Q: What's the average wait time if a patient wants an appointment ASAP?
A: We do our very best to fit our patients in as early as possible. We work diligently to be able to offer same day appointments if our schedule allows. We can usually offer a same week appointment at the latest.

Q: What sets your practice apart from the others in your area?
A: We offer both acupuncture and chiropractic services. Many of our patients benefit from both, especially for pain and musculoskeletal conditions. Our acupuncturist and chiropractor have great expertise and experience providing care in the DMV area and have been working together for several years. And our location is perfect for everyone who has different ways of commuting. The office is very close (short walking distance) from the Metro Line and Bus Line. We also have free parking space available for those who drive.

Q: How does your expertise in your field stand out?
We have diverse experience in patient care ranging from hospital setting, integrative medicine primary care setting, and private practice setting. We've pretty much done it all in terms of how widely spread an acupuncturist can participate in the healthcare world. Our acupuncturist is national board certified and is a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine which means she has done the extra coursework and internship hours and has taken all national board examinations required to be given this title. She has also traveled to China for clinical internship and studied acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University.

Q: What is the average number of recommended visits?
A: Everyone responds differently to acupuncture and the prognosis all depends on the individual's constitution and the chronicity of the conditions. Typically, acupuncture patients will be asked to come in for treatment 1 to 2 times per week for 4 to 8 weeks. Typically, most acupuncture patients notice improvement from 6 to 8 treatments. The treatments could be longer if the condition is chronic and stubborn.

Q: What results can your patients expect after their first few visit?
A: They can expect to feel some relief that can last from hours to days. They will feel a calming sensation right after acupuncture. And slowly, they will feel changes in their day-to-day life like improvement in sleep, mood, digestion, tension, etc. It's important to note that acupuncture has a cumulative effect. Each treatment builds on the last one and therefore it's important for our patients to stick with the treatment plan provided by the practitioner.

Q: Can I call ahead of time for a consultation? (And do you charge for consulting if acupuncture is the right choice for them?)
A: Yes, you can call us for a free consultation to see if our practice is a right fit for you. Please call (607) 423-6393 with any questions related with acupuncture services. Please call (301) 960-8470 with any questions related with chiropractic services.
