Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: Yes, we do! We are in-network with Carefirst, BCBS, United Healthcare, GEHA, UMR, Aetna. If you’re out of network, we can provide a superbill for you and you can submit them to your insurance for re-imbursement.
Q: My insurance doesn’t cover acupuncture. How much does it cost?
A: Please call, text, or email us and we will provide you with our out-of-pocket cost for all of our services! You as the patient have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. Q: What is the parking situation?
A: Our building has free parking spots in the front of the building. They will be labeled “visitor parking.” There are limited parking spots. Please do not park in any spots labeled “reserved” along the side and back of the building. There’s additional metered parking nearby at Waverly Garage (7401 Waverly St, Bethesda, MD 20814). We are also located close to the Bethesda Metro Station if you are commuting on a train (easy 5 minute walk).
Q: Does acupuncture hurt?
A: No, acupuncture does not typically hurt because the needles are extremely thin and solid, unlike hollow hypodermic needles, and are inserted only superficially. While some people may feel a mild pinch or tingling during insertion, the sensation usually fades quickly, replaced by feelings of warmth, heaviness, or a dull ache that indicates the treatment is working. Most patients find the experience soothing and relaxing, and any discomfort is generally minor and temporary.
Q: How can I make an appointment?
A: You can book and change all of your appointments through our online portal by visiting: bethesdachiroandacu.janeapp.com. You can also call or text our number at 240-609-0499 for acupuncture appointments. For chiropractic services, please call 301-841-0975.
Q: Do you have a late-cancellation or no-show policy?
A: Yes, we do. We have a strict 24 hour cancellation and no-show policy. If you cannot make it to your appointment, please cancel online or give us a call or text. If cancelled less than 24 hours ahead or if no-showed, you will be charged a fee. The appointment slot is reserved just for you, so please respect our time by keeping your appointment or letting us know 24 hours ahead.
Q: How many sessions will I need until I feel better?
A: It really depends on what you’re coming in for. But generally, our acupuncturist will see you 1-2 times per week for 3-4 weeks and re-assess the issue and see how you are progressing. For chronic problems, you will likely need more sessions than if you’re coming in for an acute problem. Typically, an individual will notice an improvement in 8 to10 sessions. Our acupuncturist may utilize other modalities such as cupping therapy and instrument assisted soft tissue therapy (guasha). Please understand that everyone responds to acupuncture differently.
